I was lifted of my seat to see that Carriacou was on the web, (at long last)
it is such a beautiful paradise island. I was born and grew up there and was
there only a few months ago visiting again. And every time I visit I wish the
roads could go back to what they use to be 40-odd-years-ago, but I will never
give up my little paradise island, I do believe that things will improve in time
to come.
Thanks for visiting LCM. We have lived on Carriacou
since the fall of 1991, and have already seen many improvements and other
positive changes. We continue to look for more in the future. The Webmaster.

I just finished reading your article about Rastafarianism (Oh man they would
not like that! They don't like being referred to as an "ism") I am involved in
Ministry (online) to witness to Rastas and all those who think that they want to
be... I have seen some come to a knowledge that Jesus Christ of The Bible is the
Son of God and that he is the only way to Salvation. There is so much work to be
done in this area though and it is a little different than witnessing to many
other groups do to the fact that it is a religion that has extremely devout
followers who are militant in their beliefs. I pray that I could do something
just to plant a seed in there. The devotion that I see in many surpasses most
Christians that I know.... That is an indictment for sure! There is a famous
Rasta Reggae Artist who cancelled his World Tour because he couldn't get his
back up singers to were dresses down past thier knees....... How many Christian
Bands have no trouble with those sort of "Religious" things? If we are to
witness to Rastas we must know the language! (Iharic, it is an English Based
Slang that has many African and Caribbean terms and clever twists to set a
different tone. If one was to say that they understand something they say Overstand to rid the word of the negative connotations. Instead of saying
dedicated they say Livicated....you get the idea. You must also know the History
of Ethiopia and Slavery and the Civil Rights Movement and THE WORD OF GOD!!!!!!)
Many times I have seen Scripture twisted to meet an agenda that isn't even close
to Biblical Truth. We must show them that the Bible is the Word Of God! Nuff
Said.... If you would like some info on some of the things that are going on in
this area send me an E·mail and we can discuss it.... blaminack@yahoo.com (I hope
this doesn't count as a solicitation because we need help in ministering to
these People that Christ gave his life for!)
Thanks for visiting LCM. Thanks also for the
interesting comments you made concerning the Rastafarian movement/faith. The
Webmaster.

Thanks for visiting LCM. As posted on the page that
allows you to sign our Visitors' Journal, we do not allow the mentioning of prayer
requests here. There can be certain legal ramifications we could suffer due to
the mentioning of names or financial needs as solicitations for prayer or
financial donations. We would have to be able to verify that the people whose
names have been mentioned approve of their names being mentioned in a public
forum. We would also have to verify that any financial needs are bone fide, and
not part of a scam of some sort. We do not have the time, nor resources to do
any of the above. I hope you understand. The Webmaster.

Hi, thanks for your web site and delightful pictures, We were recently on
Carriacou staying at Dave and Ulla's. Were wanting to go to church on the Sunday
we were there, but were without a car and didn't know where to go. Wish we would
have found you. Might I suggest putting an invitation to services in the
different tourist accommodations know your main outreach is to residents of the
island, but a visitor never hurts. We worship at the Quincy Free Methodist
church, and our back ground is Christian and Missionary Alliance. We spent a
short time in Haiti managing a developmental farm so know how encouraging
visitors and people from the states can be . Carriacou is a lovely island. We
really enjoyed our time there.
Thanks for visiting LCM and for taking the time to
offer your gracious comments and suggestions. I am glad that you enjoyed your
stay on Carriacou with Dave and Ulla. I truly wish that you could have attended
our services. I assure you, I have taken your suggestion to heart and have put
the schedule of our weekly services on the usual tourist entry points to LCM. I
do have the schedule in the section about Windward Bible Church already, but it
also needed to be in other places as well. Thanks for the suggestion! If you
ever get back to Carriacou, be sure you look us up. The Webmaster.

I really enjoyed reading the different comments. The people are searching for
their Creator, and they can find HIM by repenting, confess with their mouths
that "Jesus is Lord" and believing in their hearts that God raised him from the
dead. Romans 10:9 and 10 can be explored.
Thanks for visiting LCM and offering the simple and
succinct words that can lead to the most transforming miracle that can occur in
the hearts of humankind. AMEN.

OM NAMAH SHIVYA!
Fear not my Christian brethren. Every path is right for the person who trods
it and everything happens in it's own perfect time. You do not need to waste
your life trying to convert anyone. In this perfect world there are no mistakes.
Realize your Self and you will know the truth. God dwells in me, as me. I am
that which I am. I am Shiva. I am God.
Peace and love.

from Miami to Charlotte. I want you to know that ever since I met you and your
family I have changed the way my life was heading.
Brittany, your note touched all of us in a
way and at a time we really needed. You and your family were very nice, and you
all made that leg of our long trip much more pleasant. I plan to get your e·mail

yours. Keep looking up sweetie. The Webmaster.

I have removed your lengthy
‘article,’ BLACK HEBREW ISRAELITES. It contained 2000 words and would
normally take four to five pages of average typewritten pages. As clearly stated
on the page that explains how you can add your own comments, I do not allow
e·mail address, links to other websites, or unsolicited articles posted here.
There is a process to go through and stated criteria that must be met before I
would even consider posting an article by someone else on LCM in a place that
would be fitting.
If you wish to have your article
placed in a public forum where it can be found and read by others, as you
obviously do, I suggest that you take the time and expend the effort to set up
you own website and submit it to the proper search engines as I have.
The article you had obviously
pasted in and submitted to my Visitors' Journal is well written. When I compared it to
the entry you submitted above, it appears that you are not the article’s author
because of readily recognizable difference in grammar. If this is correct, you
did not supply the author’s name, nor state that you had authorization to use
it.
The article itself makes several
claims, the vast majority of which were either vaguely documented or not
documented at all. It is easy to make any claims one wants, but it is another
thing to prove the validity of them. You do not prove your claims to be true or
valid by simply stating that something is ‘no lie,’ and using UPPERCASE letters
for emphases. In fact, it makes reasonable and discerning people even less
likely to consider your claims.
Notwithstanding, I do appreciate
your visiting LCM.
The Webmaster.

Thanks for having this site. My son and fiancée are students at St. Georges

Thanks for visiting LCM. I am very sorry to hear
about the trouble you encountered while visiting our lovely and usually friendly
island. I am also thankful that nothing worse happened. I have saved and printed
out your report. However, I cannot do anything until you contact me personally,
preferably by telephone, but e·mail is acceptable. I need more information from
you as I am sure the local police here would require it to file a report and
look into your matter. From what you said in your comments, it appears that you

This is a great sit for the lovers of Christ and what all the Christians fail
to know is that, God will ask us one great question and I see many fail the
answer to the question for all we are trying to be doing in our daily life. Why
not will follow the good step of Jesus Christ and know where His grace will take
us to, Brethren, this is the great question, you may think is a question you
will over look, for the way it comes. the question is WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER? can
you tell me where is your brother, only few can answer this question and it will
be very good if all the Christian can answer this great question, do not think
is your blood brother, but you need to know all am talking about. Think about it
and no what to do. God bless you all.
Thanks for visiting LCM and offering the
gracious comment at the beginning of your above statement. I am somewhat
confused by the rest of your words. Yet, this one thing I am sure of; the great
question for all is, What does the Bible say
about Jesus, and what have your done in reference to Him?
Thanks for visiting LCM.

I have deleted your comments. As explained on the
page that allows visitors to enter comments on this page, I do not allow
personal prayer requests to be mentioned here. You also mentioned someone by
name and said something very negative about this person. I have no reason to
doubt what you said, but it could cause problems for us down the road if I
allowed your claims to remain in this public forum. Also, I only have your side
of the story. Nevertheless, I will pray for your situation, and that you will
exercise more wisdom as you seek the Lord's help.

Nice attempt at discecting Daniel's 70 week prophecy. However, the scriptures
plainly say that AFTER the 69 weeks Messiah would be cut off, the only thing
that comes after the 69 weeks is the 70th week. And in the middle of the week
Messiah would be cut off. Also in the last days of Christ's ministry he plainly
told the Jewish leaders Luke 11:50-51 50 that the blood of all the prophets
which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this
generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished
between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of
this generation. NKJV A generation was 40 years, which would put us from 30 A.D
when Jesus said this and He was that year crucified, to 70 A.D when God had
Jerusalem destroyed by Titus. We are not waiting for the 70th week to yet be
fulfilled, it was fulfilled in Christ to the T!!! Furthermore God has never
disjoined any prophetic time frame, nor did He with this one. Everything that
was stated in this prophecy was fulfilled by Christ. He dealt with the
transgression, He made an end/put away sin, He made reconcilliation for
iniquity, He brought in everlasting righteousness, and this vision given to
Daniel was sealed up when Jesus the prophet fulfilled it, it was He who was
annointed. To say Daniel's 70th week is yet to be fulfilled is to tear down the
completed work of Christ. Praise God for His infinite wisdom! Keep studying, as
I am, for there is only 1 truth, and it is truth I seek.
Thanks for visiting LCM,
Shepherdgirl. I am happy that you read my
exposition concerning Daniel’s 70 weeks. I am also glad that you took the
time to comment on it.
I am thinking of setting up
another section where visitors can make comments about articles posted on LCM.
But until then, and since I suspect that others may share your perspective, I
will allow your comments and my response to remain posted here. Now about your
comments.
I am somewhat mystified at your
conclusions. You state “However, the scriptures plainly say that AFTER the 69
weeks Messiah would be cut off, the only thing that comes after the 69 weeks is
the 70th week. And in the middle of the week Messiah would be cut off.” That
is not what the Scripture says. It actually says the following:
25 Know
therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to
restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven
weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the
wall, even in troublous times.
26 And
after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:
and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the
sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of
the war desolations are determined.
27 And
he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the
week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the
overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Your claim that the Messiah would
be cut off in the middle of the seventieth week is an error in deduction. The
actual prophetic timeline is as follows:
The first portion of verse 25
reveals three time periods. The first is a generalized overview that includes a
period of 7 prophetic years and another 62 prophetic years for a total of 69
prophetic years. (As my article demonstrates, a prophetic year consists of 360
years, not 365.25.) It states that this time period would culminate in the
coming of the Messiah.
However, verse 25 also gives more
detail about the two individual sections. The first group is seven weeks (49
prophetic years) long. It is the time that would span from the commandment that
would lead to the Jews returning to Jerusalem to begin the initial work on the
Temple in 536 B.C., and would end when the wall was rebuilt and dedicated in
397. The latter part of this verse goes on to describe the next section of time,
which is sixty two weeks (434 prophetic years) long. It states that the street
would be built and the wall would exist through very difficult times and would
lead up until the [coming of] Messiah.
Verse 26 describes the second
period in more detail. It states that AFTER the 62 prophetic weeks has run its
course (which is in reality a full 69 prophetic weeks after the command to
rebuild Jerusalem would be given), the Messiah would be cut off (killed).
This same verse also goes on to
describe other critical events that will occur after the Messiah would be cut
off—including the destruction of Jerusalem by a people from which another
‘prince’ (Antichrist) would come at some undetermined time in the future.
From the Bible and historical
records we know the Messiah to be Jesus, and we know when and how He was killed
(on the Passover of A.D. 30) by crucifixion. We also know that Jerusalem was
destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70, some forty years (one generation by your
calculations) after the Messiah was cut off. This indicates that there is indeed
an interlude in the indicated timeline that begins with the cutting off of the
Messiah and will end when the events of verse 27 begin to unfold. Contrary to
your claims, verse 26 says nothing about the Messiah being cut off in the
“middle of the week.” That is your deduction which is without merit.
Verse 27 describes events that
will occur during the third period that is in reality the seventieth week (seven
prophetic years). It is during this time that “the prince that shall come” (that
is descended from those that destroyed Jerusalem in A.D. 70) appears and sets up
a covenant that involves Israel and Jerusalem. The agreement apparently allows
the Jews to reinstate their ritual sacrifices and oblations. (This agreement
will likely bring a temporary period of peace to the Middle East between Israel
and its surrounding neighbors.) This verse also ‘clearly’ states that in the
‘middle’ of this week the ‘prince’ will force the Jews to stop offering their
sacrifices and oblations. Lastly, this verse indicates that the prince will
begin to destroy and cause desolation until the consummation (complete
destruction) and that determined (as recorded in all the prophecies) is poured
out on the one (the prince, i.e., Antichrist) causing the desolation.
As I understand your position, you
likely believe the seventieth week has been fulfilled. If that were so, then it
means that Antichrist has both come and been banished to the lake of fire, and
that Christ is now ruling upon earth. If this is your position, I could not
disagree with you more. As verse 24 of Daniel 9 predicted, the Messiah (Jesus
Christ) did indeed come and make an end to sins in the hearts of those who would
trust in Him, and by thus, He is also reconciling such to the loving God that
ordained the Messiah’s sacrifice for the payment of sin. Also as I understand
it, the Lord still yet will bring in everlasting righteousness (Millennial and
eternal kingdoms where the Messiah will personally rule), and seal up (finish or
fulfill) the vision and prophecy (as recorded in all the Scripture), and to
anoint the most Holy (the temple of the Millennial kingdom as described in
Ezekiel chapters 41 and 41).
Despite your errors, I appreciate
your attempt at dissecting my article and Daniel’s 70 week prophecy. As I hope
you can see, I am still studying.

I have several sections already set up to present different materials. However,
and as you point out, I do not yet have material for all sections ready for
posting. Yet, it usually takes search engines four to eight weeks for their
web-bots to index any new pages added to our website. Since I hope to not only
present my articles—but those offered by
others that I approve—it is necessary that
others be able to find our sections where they can submit their articles. Thus
the sections must be posted even though no articles are yet posted. Thanks again
for your suggestion, and I do plan to post more articles as soon as they become
available. Please check back from time to time.

Dear Mr. Robinson - we have watched the BBC TV programme "Rough Science",
which is set on Carriacou. I was curious about this island and I found your web
page through Google. It is a nice web page and it gives me a pictorial view of
Carriacou. I am curious about your organisation "Last Chance Ministries". Why is
it so named? Is this the same as Windwards Bible Church? Is it a religious cult?
Are you descended from the Swiss Family Robinson? Yours, curiously, Keith.
Keith, thanks for visiting LCM and offering your
interesting comments. I am sorry it took me so long to respond to your entry,
but my website has been recently moved to another server, and it experienced a
few problems during the transition.
Thanks for informing me about the BBC's Rough
Science program! Believe or not, I did not know about it until I read your
note. I have enjoyed the episode I have seen already, and I only wish I could
have seen the ones that have already shown.
'Last Chance Ministries'
is so named because we provide a multifold service (i.e., 'ministry) to
the public. As you have seen, we seek to help to the local economy by promoting
the natural wander and beauty of Carriacou to hopefully increase tourism. Yet,
our main thrust is to promote the teachings of the Christian Bible and its
central Character, Jesus Christ. It is my belief that each day the world comes
closer to the unfolding of events that will ultimately culminate in the return
of Jesus Christ to earth. If this occurs in our lifetime, then each day could be
a visitor's 'last chance' to lean about Jesus' finished work and his marvelous
gift that is made available to any with a hungry and open heart.
People have told me that "Last
Chance" sounds very negative and 'doom and gloom.' Yet, I would rather take
advantage of as many last chances I can get. Real 'doom and gloom' is when 'no
chance' remains.
Windward Bible Church is the main ministry in which
are involved here on the island of Carriacou. We are endeavoring to see this
work fully established, then see other like churches established here.
I have always said that one person's faith is often
another person's cult. Yet, even though we are not part of a mainline
denomination, we share Christian beliefs and practices that are commonly
recognized as reasonable and often mainstream to many in the USA and other parts
of the world.
What I have learned so far about my ancestry has
revealed that my ancestors are made up of African, British, Irish, and American
Indian. However, I am not aware of any Swiss ancestors. I do find it amusing
that my immediate 'Robinson' family now finds ourselves dwelling on an island
that may not be much bigger that the one depicted in the famed and colorful
story about the Robinsons. For more information:
Thanks again for visiting. I hope you return
frequently as I plan to constantly update and expand LCM in all areas.

BLESSED LOVE MY LORD AND MAJESTY...
Thanks for visiting LCM. I have
deleted your 1000 word and three page article. (This reply to you is 717 words
and some two pages in length.) I deleted your entry for reasons clearly
stipulated on the page that enabled you to submit your notions.
If you wish to present
substantiated facts that can be independently verified to prove your position, I
would be willing to read and consider it. But simply using upper case letters
(which how most people shout over the internet) and making assertion
after assertion based upon your beliefs does very little to enlighten anyone.
No version of the Bible teaches
that Selassi is the Christ or a prophet. Nor do any teach that Jesus Christ
would be superceded some 1900 years later by a messiah or prophet from Ethiopia.
Instead, they all teach that Jesus Himself will return to earth one day and
stand upon the Mt. of Olives just to the east of Jerusalem. (Acts 1:11-12 and
Zechariah 14:1-4) Matthew 19:28 and Luke 22:30 also state that it is Jesus that
will rule over the twelve tribes of Israel--not Selassi. The above is not only
true for the Bible versions used by the West; it is also true of those used in
the east, such as the Ethiopian Coptic version.
Your assertion that
Rastafarianism should be traced back to creation because Selassi was Jesus as
Creator has absolutely no basis in any written historical record. It is
something you choose to believe. In all accurately translated Bibles (including
the Coptic), John 1:1-3, 14 teaches that Jesus created the world. Genesis
chapter one describes how ‘God’ created the world from nothing. These among
other Bible passages teach that Jesus is indeed God. But belief that Selassi was
the Creator stems from nothing but wishful thinking and blind faith. Jesus is
God and Creator, but Selassi was not and never has been either.
Moreover, historical records
show that Selassi was overthrown from his throne in 1974, and died the following
year in 1975 at age 83. His body was then buried near a latrine by the regime
that overthrew him. However, in November of 2000 his dead body was moved and
reburied in a tomb beside his equally dead wife, Empress, Menen. Selassi's body
now rests in the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa.
(According to Reuters report carried by CNN.)
Unlike Selassi, Jesus was dead, but
was also bodily resurrected three days later according to the most reliable
written sources from that time. Those same historical records tell us that Jesus
is now alive (Luke 24:6) and will one day rule over a kingdom that He will setup
in His perfect timing. They also say that Jesus' kingdom and reign will never
end (Luke 1:31-33), unlike that of Selassi and his reign.
These same records (specifically Acts,
3:20-21) insist that from the time of His resurrection and ascension into heaven
some 2000 years ago, Jesus is to remain in heaven until He one day returns to
earth and rids the world of evil and restores the Davidic kingdom for eternity.
Thus, Jesus did not return to earth as Selassi. Nor did He return to earth and
live among the Indians of America as the Book of Mormon claim, nor is He now
directing the affairs of His church through the Watch Tower Bible and Tract
Society in Brooklyn, New York as "Jehovah's Witnesses" believe. Again, Jesus and
Selassi are not one in the same--according to the historical records.
From time to time I get
submissions much like yours from fellow Rastas. Could it be that the reason
those such as you say the things you do is because you have no real basis for
your beliefs, other than your desire to believe as you do? Could it be a belief
system that has its origin in some human mind, as well meaning as such person
may have been?
Just for the record, even though
my hair is not as abundant or long, it is likely just as wooly as yours if I
would let it grow.
In any case, I am keeping my mind
open to that which is true. I trust you are doing the same. I respect any person
that does that in sincerity.

You are not one to speak the words you speak. I don´t care what happened to
you or your family you are an ignorent soul and should not be posting a site on
rastafarianism witch you know nothing about.
Thanks for visiting LCM. Thankfully, most people
live in a free society where we are able to express our opinions and
beliefs--just as you did here in my Visitors' Journal. I have dialogued with numerous
Rastas in person and investigated their religion's origin and beliefs. I have
also made the word of God, the Christian Bible, my life long study. Thus, I am
quite qualified to evaluate Rastafarianism from a biblical perspective and share
my words about it.
Your judgment that I am an 'ignorant (this the
correct way to spell this word) soul' apparently stems from your lack of
knowledge about both me and the Bible. I also suspect that your words stem
somewhat from your frustration over not liking what I have written and not being
able to refute it in a factual manner.
May I suggest that you become open in your search
for truth instead of looking for that which continues to agree with your error.

I didn't know this word and saw it in Crick Crack Monkey... I entered it in
Google and you came up. I'm glad to have found you and will continue to use you
as a point of reference.
Thanks for visiting LCM. I believe the word about
which you were inquiring is 'Lagahou,' which is mentioned in an article
by Alister Hughes posted
here on LCM. I am very happy that you have found something here that you can
use as a reference. Please visit again, and thanks for the nice comment.

As a caucasian former catholic, I think it is very fundamentalistic and
inherently wrong to try and tell people what they should get out of reading the
Bible. Every religion that uses the Bible as part of their doctrine interprets
it and translates it to fit the needs that they want it to fit......all forms of
christianity included. What's the big deal if Rastas get different meaning out
of the Bible? By and large, the Rasta population I have encountered in my life
has been much a happier, more laid back, friendlier more decent group of people
than the white catholic background I grew up in and am currently immersed in. I
think it's more important to look at how people are living their lives instead
of what they believe about miniscule details with an ancient context that have
little or no bearing on today's society. After reading your article on Rastas, I
am disappointed that efforts are being made to change what they believe. I lived
the first 18 years of my life surrounded by caucasian roman catholocism and just
recently had my eyes opened by living in an environment rich with cultural and
religious diversity. I never really realized the emphasis that roman catholics
put on small, irrelevant details that complicate life until I surrounded myself
with Rastas. From my own personal experience, I feel that Rastas have a deeper
concern for the things that truly matter in life. They don't concern themselves
with a bunch of archaic crap about a god who thinks we're never good enough to
go to heaven. They are firm believers in something other than you believe in,
and christianity emphasises the intolerance of missions for different ideas or
ways of life. Mission work and missionaries are two different aspects, so don't
think I'm ragging on mission work. Programs like Habitat for Humanity and ILAC
are wonderful until some holier-than-thou, you should do everything our way
christian decided to make the world conform to their ideologies. Long live an
institutionalized religious mongor trying to conquer the world, one poor,
wretched, unsaved soul at a time. *sarcasm* Long live freedom of ideas and
freedom to make up one's own mind.
Thanks for visiting LCM, 'Big Jon.' Normally, I do
not allow such wordy comment to remain in LCM's Visitors' Journal. However, yours are
well written and intelligently stated, thus, I believe you deserve a reply. Lord
willing, I will post my response to your comments when I have a little more
time. However, I will venture to say that you seem to have misunderstood my
purpose in writing and posting my article on Rastafarianism here on LCM. In any
case, I hope you visit again and find something more to your liking. Keep
checking back to see my response in the days ahead.

Thanks for visiting LCM. I have deleted your more
than 800 word prayer request for reasons clearly stated on the page that enabled
you to make your entry into my Visitors' Journal. The mention of numerous names in a
public forum like this is certainly not wise, and could cause many problems for
me. May you exercise more wisdom in the days ahead.

Webmaster.....thank you for your response. I do look forward to reading your
full response as soon as it is posted. From what I've gathered from reading your
article and browsing through your site, your main goal in dealing with Rastas is
to get them to accept the bible as taught and presented by yourselves. If I am
incorrect in this, please do let me know. I am also curious as to whether you or
your website sponsor or take part in any real-time discussion forums, as I would
really like to discuss thoughts and ideas in more of an instant messaging forum
instead of posting and waiting for responses. If so, please let me know where I
could access this and if not, I was wondering if you know of other sites or
groups that do. Thank you for your time.
Greetings Big Jon. As mentioned already, I normally
do not allow such long comments (such as yours above from September 12 and 16)
to remain in my Visitors' Journal for a couple of reasons. First, Visitors'
Journals are not
normally designed for extensive two way dialogue. Second, comments as yours
often require a lengthy response (as this one) if I am going to do your comments
justice. For these reasons I prefer personal communications of this sort via
e·mail. Yet, I believe there are many others that share your perspective and I
welcome the opportunity to address them, perhaps before they also enter their
comments into LCM’s quest book.
I noticed from your first entry that among other
things you said that you are a ‘former’ Roman Catholic. However, you did not say
what you are now, except that you have surrounded yourself by Rastas. Does that
mean you are now a converted Rastafarian? In any case, I will respond to your
comments here.
In all truth fullness, Big Jon, have you really
investigated “every religion that uses the Bible...”? I have a few books that
have made an attempt to summarize the doctrines and beliefs of many ‘Christian’
religions that use the Bible in some way. I prefer J. Gordon Melton’s, The
Encyclopedia of American Religions. It is a large two volume consortium in
which each is about two inches thick and covers hundreds if not thousands of
‘Christian’ religions. I have often spent many days and nights reading this
source and others, as well as engaged in conversations with those in many
different denominations and sects. In all truthfulness, I cannot make the
assertion that all “...interprets it and translates it to fit the needs that
they want it to fit......all forms of Christianity included.” Could it be that
you feel that way because of your past experience as a Catholic? I cannot speak
for other groups, but I can speak for myself and many that share my faith and
doctrine. It is within this scope that my response is limited.
Personally speaking, there are many things in the
Christian Bible that I strive to faithfully teach that would be different if I
had an effective say so. For example, I would do away with the devil, sin, and
the consequences of both. I would much rather have all people live forever and
never suffer in any way. If I had my way, God--whoever and however He would
be--would be happy with all things that I do, think, and say. That is how I
would make a religion. Yet, and too often for me, I find my own heart smitten by
the very word I am preaching when I stand in the pulpit of Windward Bible Church
or any other church. I have often confessed to my congregation that I too have
struggled or do struggle with whatever the issue is for that moment. And at the
conclusion of the message it is often I, sometimes joined by others, that must
go before the Lord confessing failure and sin and seeking His forgiveness and
power to overcome it.
In this I have done nothing more than even the
Apostle Paul did, who said of himself that of “sinners; of whom I am chief.” (1
Timothy 1:15) According to the Greek manuscripts, Paul used the present tense
verb translated am when he declared himself to be the chief or foremost
of sinners. This means that even as an Apostle faithfully and fearlessly serving
the Lord he struggled with his own sin nature. If Paul had been doing his 'own
thing' surely he would have changed the part of the Bible he wrote so that what
he struggled with would be acceptable instead. Likewise, I can envision where
numerous Bible teachers and preachers would change what the Bible says about
various topics ranging from divorce and remarriage, what to do when believers
have a civil dispute among themselves, and any other behavior that is
unacceptable to God according to His word.
However, there some churches, groups, and
individuals (including me) that dare believe that the Bible is indeed what it
claims to be, which is God’s word recorded by holy men that were moved and
inspired directly by God’s Spirit. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21) Believing
this, we teach and preach it--even when the teachers or preachers (including
me) find themselves guilty before its marvelous words when the Word is
proclaimed. My faith and doctrine, big Jon, is most assuredly not of my own
making nor more than that written by Paul was his. If it was, I would long ago
have changed the parts that conflict with my own desires and behavior.
Now, about Rastafarianism. Though I have heard of
some former Rastas that have turned to Christ, and in fact have had a blessed
part in seeing a very few personal friends that turned from Rastafarianism to
faith in Christ, I do not believe my single page article (as of October 2003) on
Rastafarianism will change many Rastas' beliefs and practices. I wish many
would, but it is not likely that many will. I felt this way before I wrote the
article and posted it here on LCM. I did not write my article and post it on LCM
for the expressed purpose of converting Rastas. I have written and posted it for
the benefit of those that have a desire to learn more about the movement and
religion from various perspectives.
I have been contacted by university students and
other individuals from all over the world wanting more information about
Rastafarianism. Those who contact me know that I am a pastor and missionary of
the biblical genre. By thus I believe they expect a response from my
perspective. As I am sure you already know, there are many pro Rastafarian sites
that present the Rasta perspective. I am thankful that we live in a world where,
for the most part, different perspectives can be presented for all to review
and consider. I have not attempted to change “what they [Rastas] believe” merely
by presenting my article, nor more than I believe Rastas have tried to change
what I believe by the posting of their beliefs and their perspectives on those
who believe as I do. If I am not mistaken, I would likely be considered to be
part of what the Rastafarians call ‘Babylon,’ which is anything but good. They
and I are only presenting our perspectives for others to consider as others seek
to gather information to make their own informed choices. I do not get angry or
disappointed with Rastas or those who hold to their perspectives merely because
of the things they say about us. They are sharing their perspective--which they
have a right to do. I may not like what they say as I am sure many do not like
what I say. But I do not get angry over it. I expect it. This is tolerance. It
seems that the only way I could have prevented you from being ‘disappointed’
with what I wrote would have been for me not to share my perspective. In my
opinion, Big John, that is not very tolerant.
I am amazed at the number of hits that my one page
article on Rastafarianism gets every day. I am even more amazed at the number of
links I have discovered to my article on my website on other websites around the
world--including links posted on the websites of some universities. I believe
some interest may be due to the Rastafarian movement being a relatively new
religion that was thrust into the limelight largely with the help of Reggae
music beginning back in the latter have of this century. Some interest may also
be due to the way that Hollywood has portrayed the movement and lifestyle in a
romantic light. In addition, in some places Rastas are seeking and gaining the
right to openly use marijuana (the 'holy herb' or ganja) under the right
of religious freedom. This alone would make the Rasta lifestyle more appealing
to some. In similar manner, the native American Indian spiritual life, that used
the hallucinogen peyote button in their religious rituals, has also been
glorified by Hollywood to varying degrees.
Next Big Jon, you stated, “I feel that Rastas have a
deeper concern for the things that truly matter in life.” If life on this planet
in the average human body that can last on average of some eighty years is all
there is and will ever be to life, then the Rastafarian lifestyle is just a
good, and perhaps better than many others. Yet, if the Bible is correct in its
claim that each person will be judged by God one day after death (Hebrew 9:27)
and then live in either a place and existence of bliss, comfort, rewarding
service, in God’s presence (Revelation 21:1-7); or, in a place that is exactly
opposite of this (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 14:10-11, 20:11-15), then what
matters most in this life is preparing for the next life that is eternal. You
may not agree, but again, that is my perspective as I believe the Bible teaches.
Big Jon, you also stated, “They
[Rastas] don't concern themselves with a bunch of archaic crap about a god who
thinks we're never good enough to go to heaven.” Again, perhaps you are speaking
from your past Catholic Christian experience that requires the observance of
many rituals, prayers, observances, and periodic confessions to a priest.
However, when I read God’s word I see the word love threaded through each verse
and chapter. I see a merciful God who does not desire to give sinful people what
they deserve by way of punishment, but instead desires to give each something
good that we do not deserve. (2 Peter 3:9) God desires to forgive us of sin and
give us eternal life. This is why God suffered and died as a sacrifice for us
according to John 3:16.
Many churches do indeed and
erroneously interpose themselves in between God and his gift, claiming that
there are many things people must do hourly and daily if people even want to
have a hope to enter heaven. For too many, the church controls the gate to
heaven. However, God in His word Himself states;
- “That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the
heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on
him shall not be ashamed.” (Romans 10:9-10)
Yes, Big Jon, there are multitudes of “firm
believers in something other than you believe in.” Do you mean by this that I
should not firmly believe in what I do? I do not believe you meant this,
but what you wrote could be taken that way. But if you did mean that you would
be denying me what you accept by others.
Lastly, you also claimed that, “christianity
emphasises [sic] the intolerance of missions for different ideas or ways
of life.” God in His word does tell His children (believers) how to live and
behave. But for those who do not believe in Him as He has revealed Himself
through His word, He has directed believers not to judge or try to force our
beliefs and practices upon such. (1 Corinthians 5:11-13) You see, Big Jon, only
God’s children indwelt by God’s Spirit can live as God desires.
To answer one other question you posed in your
second comment. I am the founder, creator, webmaster, and sponsor of LCM. Though
I have been tempted, I do not have the time to host real time discussion forums.
It took me some four weeks, and the better part of three hours just to respond
to your comments. Yet, I am aware that there are such discussion groups online.
I am sorry, but I do not have any links for you because I do not have time for
them either. I suggest you send any more comments or questions to me via e·mail.
You can find my address on my ‘Contact Us’ page. It is very unlikely that I will
allow any more long comment that requires a long response by me in LCM’s
Visitors' Journal for obvious reasons. If you do write, please remember that it is just one
of me, and I have to budget my time appropriately, so it could take me some time
to respond depending upon the nature of your correspondence. I also appreciated
your honest opinion. In any case, thanks for visiting LCM!

may I through HIM say IRIE !!Peace and Love to you ,................. the
time has come for humamnity to determine their destiny through light of
Rastafarianism .cause we got to live the lif we deserve ...... give praise to
JAH everyday!!!!!
Thanks for visiting LCM, Lucas. I must remind you
that Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He
also said that no man can come to God (the Father) except thru Him--not by
Selassie nor through Rastafarianism. (John 14:6) I am sure that your Bible says
the same as mine; and as you can see, I have not interpreted it the way I want
it to read, I am simply quoted it.
I praise God who has exalted His word
above His Name. (Psalm 138:2) His name in the Old Testament is Yahweh. In the
New Testament it is Jesus. Praise the Lord Jesus for whom God's word says
that He died for the sins of all, including yours and mine. Jesus saves, the
Rasta's Jah does not.

Hello, We were surfing this site to see if we could view our family home in
Meldrum. It is bringing back good memories of the time we spent visiting the
family last year, on this cold grey day in England! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for visiting LCM. I am happy that surfing
LCM's section that presents photos and virtual tours of selected sites on
Carriacou has brought back good memories. I hope you will look us up here in

Prayer Letter Dear brother in Christ, We greet you in the glorious name of
our Lord and savior Jesus christ. Dear brother I am so glad that I make known
about ministry concerning service of God to you....
Thanks for visiting LCM. I have removed your
solicitation as stated on the page that enabled you to make your entry here. A
quick search of the World Wide Web shows that you made nearly the exact same
solicitation in the Visitors' Journals of several different websites. LCM was
setup and is maintained by an independent missionary with means that make it
possible to only do what we do here in the Caribbean. I suggest that you prepare
a doctrinal statement and in-depth detail of your work, and then contact
churches and organizations that share your position and burden for the souls in
your area. Spamming website's Visitors' Journal is not a good way to present your ministry
and needs, and it will likely hurt your testimony with many seeking to
faithfully serve the Lord.

Hi,
I came across this page, to be honest by mistake. However I am so glad I did. I throughly enjoyed looking through your site. My mother is from Carriacou, Grand bay. And
I will most definitely show her your website.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for visiting LCM,
L. Charles. My family and I lived in Grand Bay for nearly the first full year we
were on Carriacou (from August 1991 to July 1992). We got to know many of the
people there and in Mt. Pleasant. They are very nice folks. Thanks for your nice
comments and words of encouragement. Please check back in the future as I plan
to update many photos over the next year or so.

I have removed your entry in its entirety.
As clearly stated on the page where you made your entry into my Visitors'
Journal;
links placed by spammers are not welcomed, nor are they tolerated here on LCM. I
know you can read because you were able to make your own entry. Yet, this is at
least the
second time someone has made an entry like yours pushing links to your website.
Thus, you are simply determined to make your presence known where it is not
welcome. A little research shows that your website (FragranceAnnex--WHOIS shows
contact as 'Jit Joshi') was developed by another website company (satisnet)
which is a division of another website company (Hidden Brains). The latter is
located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. You did not even have the guts to put a
genuine link on your website that would enable people to contact you or reach
customer service. In a word, you are pitiful.
Now, know this. When the search engines pick up your
entry here containing your 'name,' people will know to stay away from you and
any business so named because you are unscrupulous. All the best ...

I' had written some very negative thoughts about UFOs and so called
aliens at an place called UFO Evidence.org. They got me barred from there site and it's because
I'm a none believer. If there's no physical evidence there's no proof.
Thanks for visit LCM and leaving your
comments, Armagdon. (Did you mean to spell it Armageddon instead?) In any case,
and in my opinion, once someone has been bitten by the UFO alien bug in a way
helps them believe and accept the phenomenon in a positive light, they are not
longer willing to look objectively at the facts and true research. There is
indeed something inherently wrong with the phenomenon and I have briefly
addressed that in another place on this site.
