In case you think of dismissing my scenarios and
how I believe the world world would react to an open and undeniable appearance
of UFOs carrying extraterrestrials to earth as the ravings of a fundamentalist
fanatic, consider the following;
. . . we have, indeed, been
contactedperhaps even visitedby extraterrestrial beings, and the U.S.
government, in collusion with the other national powers of the earth, is determined to
keep this information from the general public. The purpose of the international conspiracy
is to maintain a workable stability among the nations of the world and for them, in turn,
to retain institutional control over their respective populations. Thus, for these
governments to admit that there are beings from outer space . . . with mentalities and
technological capabilities obviously far superior to ours, could, once fully perceived by
the average person, erode the foundations of the earths traditional power structure.
Political and legal systems, religions, economic and social institutions could all soon
become meaningless in the mind of the public. The national oligarchical establishments,
even civilizations as we now know it, could collapse into anarchy. [emphasis mine] Such
extreme conclusions are not necessarily valid, but they probably accurately reflect the
fears of the "ruling classes" of the major nations, whose leaders (particularly
those in the intelligence business) have always advocated excessive governmental secrecy
as being necessary to preserve "national security."
According to page 365 of Timothy Goods Above Top Secret,
this statement was made by Victor Marchetti, former Executive Assistant to the Deputy
Director and Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the CIA. The statement was
made on pages 27 of Victor Marchettis How the CIA Views the UFO Phenomenon,
published by Second Look, Volume 1 number 7 of May 1979. To Mr. Marchettis literary
credit, Frank N. Magills Masterplots: 1975 Annual includes an essay-review of a book
co-authored by Victor Marchetti and John D. Marks. Their book, The CIA and the Cult of
Intelligence, was published in 1974.
According to Timothy Good, the
first director of the CIA, Roscoe Hillenkoetter, also had plenty to say on this
matter. In Goods excellent book,
Above Top Secret, he shared a statement by Admiral Hillenkoetter as recorded
on page 102 of Major Keyhoe’s book, Aliens from Space. This is how
Hillenkoetter summed it up back in 1962 when he resigned from NICAP (National
Investigative Committee on Arial Phenomena) and wrote:
“In my opinion, NICAP’s investigation has gone as
far as possible,” ... “I know the UFOs are not U.S. or Soviet devices. All we
can do now is wait for some action by the UFOs. The Air Force cannot do any more
under the circumstances. It has been a difficult assignment for them, and I
believe we should not continue to criticize their investigations.”
Before that--and ten years after he had resigned
from the CIA--Admiral Hillenkoetter, Ret. sent a sign statement, dated August
22, 1960, to the United States Congress stating:
It is time
for the truth to be brought out . . . . Behind the scenes high-ranking Air Force
officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and
ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are
nonsense . . . . I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers
from secrecy about Unidentified Flying Objects . . . . Two dangers are steadily
increasing:
1. The risk
of accidental war from mistaking UFO formations for a Soviet surprise attack.
2. The
danger that the Soviet government may, in a critical moment, falsely claim the
UFOs as secret Russian weapons against which our defenses are helpless . . . .
Admiral Hillenkoetter is not the only government
official that had something to say along these lines.
‘The nations of the world will have to unite’, he
said, ‘for the next war will be an interplanetary war. The nations of the
earth must someday make a common front against attack by people from other
planets.’
According to page 267 of Above Top Secret, this quote
was taken from The New York Times, dated October 9, 1955.(p.?) The person being
quoted was -- General Douglas MacAuthur!
There are other high ranking government officials in the
know that have also made ominous statements concerning this phenomenon. Check
this out:
“. . . how much easier his task and mine might be in
these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this world from
another species from another planet outside in the universe. We’d forget all
the little local differences that we have between our countries, and we would
find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this
earth together.” [emphasis mine]
The above spokesman was Ronald Reagan who was president
of the United States at the time! He made this comment while making a point to
then Soviet Leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, during the Geneva summit conference which
took place from November 19–21 of 1985. The International Herald Tribune and
Daily Telegraph carried the story December 5, 1985 according to page 249 of
Timothy Good’s Above Top Secret.
And again . . . according to Inside the New Age
Nightmare by Randall Baer, at the 42nd General Assembly of the United Nations on
September 21, 1988 the president of the Untied States said;
“In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we
often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some
outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I
occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we
were facing an alien threat from outside this world.” [emphasis mine] [p. 109]
I have read and heard claims that President Reagan made
statements about a threat from beings from another world some twenty times. I
verified several account during my own research and reading.
Were they all nuts, deluded, or paranoid?
